Dr. Del Tackett, the creator and host of Focus on the Family’s “The Truth Project” has a new project.Tackett is the host of the television program “Cross Examine,” produced in conjunction with Coral Ridge Ministries. It first aired September 12, 2010.

“The goal is to help viewers examine everything in life through the lens of the cross of Jesus Christ,” said “Cross Examine” co-host John Rabe.

Several million people have now viewed Tackett’s former endeavor, “The Truth Project,” worldwide.

“I meet people everywhere I go, in airports, restaurants, on the beach, who tell me amazing stories of God's grace in their lives through The Truth Project,” Tackett told The Christian Post.

The Truth Project is a small group DVD curriculum of 13 one-hour lessons taught by Tackett. Its website calls it “the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective.”

According to the Barna Research Group, just nine percent of Americans have what is considered a biblical perspective on the world, or a biblical worldview.

“That’s the crisis ‘Cross Examine’ seeks to resolve,” said Tackett.

Like “The Truth Project,” “Cross Examine” is focused on educating Christians in a biblical worldview. “But it is different in that we are using the stories of life around us to help people connect that truth with reality,” Tackett explained.

The program’s first story was that of Faith Christian School in Grapevine, Texas, whose football team reached out to a youth prison facility’s football team and made a significant difference in the lives of the young men. The story, Tackett taught on the program, is an example of God’s plan for real social reform – Christians reaching out to those in need rather than leaving the work to secular government programs.

Tackett, who served in the George H. W. Bush administration, breaks his teaching into six social “spheres” that need to be viewed in light of the cross: God and Man, the Family, the Church, Labor, the Community, and the State.

“Just as God has created the physical realm, so He has also created the social realm. It too consists of systems with pieces and parts that all work together. The Scriptures contain the blueprints for these social systems,” said the popular speaker and author, adding that when we attempt to warp these systems, there are “horrible consequences.”

Twenty-one episodes of “Cross Examine” have been produced so far, covering issues from the church’s response to homelessness and to families adopting frozen embryos to the economic philosophy of the Pilgrims.

According to Tackett, they are currently filming two programs – one about young girls who get caught up in the sex industry and the tragedy of their lives in contrast to what was promised, and another that is aimed at helping the poor in developing countries through personal involvement in microfinance.

“We will also expose the huge waste that comes from many current foreign-aid policies,” he explained.

Ultimately, Tackett hopes people will come together in small groups, similar to

the setting of “The Truth Project,” to watch “Cross Examine” together.

“I hope afterward they will have a great koinonia experience discussing the issues together,” he noted. “I think the Lord shows up in that venue. Maybe that's because He told us He would.”

All episodes of Cross Examine can be viewed online by registering on the program’s website, CrossExamine.com. The site also provides television listings as well as a link to Dr. Del Tackett’s popular blog.     Christian Post
